Son of George & Bessie Crowell.

Robert served as a First Lieutnant and Navigator on B-25 (#42-32247), 487th Bomber Squadron, 340th Bomber Group, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He was declared "Missing In Action" during the war and was awarded a Purple Heart.

Robert also has a "Cenotaph" in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Hamilton, New York.

According to official history The flight echelon of 487 Bomb Squadron departed Kellogg field on this date. Location and circumstances of the incident not described. It appears that the crew of 7 were lost in transit ship and crew not recovered.
