George Henderson Stevenson was the son of George Henderson and Grace Dorothy Stevenson, of Glasgow, he was granted a commission and volunteered for airborne forces.
Captain Stevenson successfully completed parachute training at RAF Ringway on course number 66, from 24 May to 4 June 1943, and was posted to B Company, 12th (Yorkshire) Parachute Battalion, the Parachute Regiment, and took part in Operation Overlord (Normandy).
Captain Stevenson was killed in action on 9 June 1944, aged 23, and was given a field burial near Longueval and was re-interred to Ranville War Cemetery, Calvados, France, on 12 June 1945.
