"For gallantry in action in the vicinity of Bayreuth, Germany. Sgt. Von Prittwitz organized a flanking attack on an enemy machine gun position that had pinned down his company with intense fire. With utter disregard for personal safety, Sgt. von Prittwitz exposed himself to enemy fire and held his squad in the attack until he was mortally wounded. The courage and gallantry displayed by Sgt. von Prittwitz inspired his men to completely destroy the enemy position."
