Frank Lockhart

Frank M. (Pappy) Lockhart, 88, of 622 Woodland Avenue, Salem, died Monday at 8:15 p.m. in the East Liverpool Extended Care Center following an extended illness.


He was born January 30, 1888, in Wirt County, W.Va., a son of Monroe Lockhart and Charity Edgar Lockhart.


Mr. Lockhart retired in 1954 from the Homer Laughlin China Co., where he had been employed since 1941. He was a member of the Baptist faith.


He was preceded in death by his wife, Stella Ethel Sams Lockhart, in April 1965. They had been married Oct. 9, 1913, in Parkersburg, W.Va. He was also preceded in death by a son, Carl Lockhart in 1969.


Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Willard (Hazel) Smith and Mrs. Floyd (Opal) Claus, both of Salem; Mrs. Lenora Sosa of San Jose, Calif., and Mrs. Delmar (Lura) Logston of Chester; five sons, William Lockhart of Calcutta; Charles Lockhart, Robert Lockhart and Herbert Lockhart, all of East Liverpool; and Lloyd Lockhart of Kensington, Ohio; a brother, Albert L. Lockhart of Clarksburg, W.Va.; three half-brothers, Edward Lockhart of Chester, Gilbert Lockhart of Orange, Tex., and Ted Lockhart of Coolville, Ohio; two half-sisters, Elsie Lockhart of Parkersburg, and Lottie Lockhart of Louisville, Ohio; 43 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.


Services will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester, with the Rev. William Parsons of the East Liverpool Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be Columbiana County Memorial Park.


Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday afternoon and night.
