Mrs. Hackleman's Services Monday In Alfalfa Church
Services were at 2 p.m. Monday in the Alfalfa Methodist church for Mrs. W.G. Hackleman, pioneer resident of the community west of Alfalfa. She had been seriously ill only a few weeks and died Saturday, Feb. 20. Burial was in the Alfalfa cemetery under direction of the Pitchers.
Rev. F.A. Heusel, Thomas, her former pastor, Rev. Jack Noble, Alfalfa, and Rev. Roy Rowlan, Carnegie conducted the services. She has been a member of the Methodist church since early childhood.
Effie Mae Rogers was born Nov. 6, 1872 at Sadler, Texas. On Jan. 22, 1893, she was married to Willie Gray Hackleman in the Bethleham church at Sadler and came to the new Oklahoma Territory as a bride to the dug-out home on the farm four miles west of Alfalfa, he had secured in the run of 1892. She made her home on the farm for 50 years, moving to Carnegie in April, 1953. Mr. Hackleman died April 19, 1948.
Survivors are her daughters, Mrs. Etta Jones and Mrs. Faye Luper, Carnegie; and her sons, Hugh B. Hackleman, Tulsa, and Hal W. Hackleman, Stillwater. Also surviving are 15 grand children and 14 great grandchildren.
In addition to the family, also here for the services were two nieces, Mrs. Della Dryden and Mrs. Jessie Spaulding, of Sherman, Texas, and among the many out of town friends were Mr. and Mrs. T.C. Anderson, Paul Bryant and Joe Bryant, Oklahoma City.
