Jewell Thompson Latham, 89 of Eupora died Jan. 21, 2004 at North Mississippi Medical Center - Eupora, Miss.
Mrs. Latham, a retired assistant medical technician, was born May 15, 1914, in Slate Springs, Miss. She was a member of the First Baptist Church at Mathiston.
At the time of her death Mrs. Latham was surrounded by her four daughter's, family members, close friends, and co-workers who loved her dearly. She was known affectionately as "Brandy" by her grandchildren, and known as "Judy" or "Aunt Judy" by most of her close extended family members.
Jewell Latham was the third of eight children born to Cara Frances "Jones" Thompson, and William Andrew Thompson. For 29 years, she was married to Summer F. Latham until his sudden death in 1961, leaving her a widow at the age of 47.
All the time Mrs. Latham continied to keep up her home, and a small farm with rental property on Wood College Road. For many years she worked for Oliver Funeral Home of Eupora, and later for Ozborn Family Medical Clinic, where she retired.
Survivors include four daughters, Mary Lou Farley of Eupora. Dorothy L. Swingle of New Albany, Carolyn L. Sherrill of Mathiston, and Wanda Thomas of Indianola, Ms. one sister, Sarha Catherine Ellis, of Pontotoc, Ms. one brother, Verdell Thompson of Quinton, Alabama. six grandchildren, and 12 great - grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by brothers; Artis Thompson, and James Woodrow Thompson. and sister's Robbie Nix, Louise Benton, and Ernestine Thompson.
Services were Jan. 24, at Oliver Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Doyle Cummings officiating. Burial was in Spring Valley Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Don Swindle, Joe Wright, Lee Gilliland, John R. "Bud" Hill, Adron Williams, and Jamie Stidham.
Honorary Pallbearers were; Leon Wilson, Carlton Rowlen, and John Gilliland.
