Alice was the last of a long line of Plymouth County residents that started with Governor Bradford. She received a very large inheritance from an uncle.

She bequeathed her homestead in 1922 to establish Tobey Hospital along with several acres of land and financial funding. Tobey Hospital was founded in 1938 and named after her.

The homestead was open for over a hundred years. Alice's husband, John Hall Jones, and his long time friend, Edward Palmer Clark along with 4 men friends, P. A. Hutchinson,
P. A. Wells, Ralph Blandfield, and John N. Ryan, lodged and where fed for free in the homestead until the death of John Jones and Edward Palmer.

Alice also willed a large sum to Bide-A-Wee Home Association, Inc. in New York City that was founded in 1903 and is one of the oldest humane organizations in the United States. Bide-A-Wee is now a large animal adoption agency with veterinary services and still receives and recognizes Alice's handsome donation to date.

Besides Alice's husband her only living relative was William Bradford Waterman of Augusta, Maine. Alice never had children.
