Private First Class, 138th Infantry Regiment, 35th Division, U.S. Army. Entered the service from Texas.
Memorial originally submitted by Paul F. Wilson, Aug. 1, 2004

Willie Lawrence Ramsey was born February 25, 1985, in Lebanon, Wilson County, Tennessee to Albus Sanders Ramsey and Leona Humphrey Hunter.

He was the 3rd of 4 children, Charley, Lillian, Lawrence and Oakley. The family removed to McKinney, Collin County, Texas around 1900. Lawrence was no stranger to adversity having lost his mother in 1902, at the age of 8. This required much work and sacrifice not only for him, but the other family members as well. His father married Mary Elizabeth Blakley, a widow with a daughter, Ruby Mae. He had 4 half-brothers, Ray "R J", David "D A", Carlos and Elrre. Lawrence was a caring, conscientious individual, and a loving son, as was evident from the last letter he wrote to his brother Charley. He is soon to ship out, but is much concerned about how his family is doing at home.
