Angela D'Onofrio (née Gatto)
May 14, 1958 - December 20, 2006

Peacefully, on Wednesday, December 20, 2006, after a courageous four-year battle with ovarian cancer, we lost an incredible person who touched the lives of so many. Angela's strength, courage and positive attitude were an inspiration to all those she came in contact with. Adored wife and best friend of Vince. Loved mother of Theresa and Paul and special angel, Mark. Cherished daughter of Dora and the late Umberto Gatto and daughter-in-law of Gloria and the late Joseph D'Onofrio. Treasured sister of Joanna and her husband Rob McGowan, Diana and her husband Tony Cherubin and sister-in-law of Clementina D'Onofrio, Joanne and the late Larry D'Onofrio. Angie will be sadly missed by nephews Andrew-Christian, Anthony, Joshua, Drew-Mathew and Nicholas. Also, fondly remembered by loyal family and dedicated friends. Angela was a former employee of Mohawk College where she worked in the Accounting Office, the Early Childhood Centre and Job Connect. Her passion was for her family and she was very dedicated to her children and dog, Oscar. She was able to manage her treatments by watching reruns of the "I Love Lucy" and "Everybody Loves Raymond" shows and through her breakfast outings. She was always concerned for others, putting them first, before herself. She drew strength from raising awareness to ovarian cancer with the family Christmas sign and decorations. Angie much enjoyed the annual family trips to Sauble Beach and Frankenmuth. In the past few years, she was able to fulfil some of her life's dreams by travelling with her family to California, seeing the Rose Bowl Parade, and a trip with Vince to Italy and France, where she visited the shrine of her patron saint, St. Therese of Liseux. Many thanks to all the medical and health care professionals who assisted with Angela's care - Dr. Hal Hirte, the special ladies in the chemo suite at the Juravinski Cancer Centre, Marie Louise, Heather Harris, Dr. Sproat, Dr. Russell, Dr. Vora and amazing staff at the Henderson Hospital - Ward 395. Your special care will never be forgotten. According to Angela's wishes, a Mass will be held to celebrate her life on Saturday, December 23rd at 10 a.m. at Cathedral of Christ The King Church (714 King St. W.) followed by entombment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Angela's memory to the National Ovarian Cancer Association (NOCA) would be sincerely appreciated. Donations can be made on-line at www.ovariancanada.org or by phone 1-877-413-7970. Donation cards will also be available at the church on Saturday.
