George Jackson Eagles, son of George and Charity Lowe Eagles,
was born in Gerry, Chautauqua County, NY and moved to Mercer County, PA with his parents before 1820. On 19 February, 1839 he married Elizabeth Giebner, daughter of Charles and Suzanne Wooden Giebner. He was a farmer. On October 22, 1861 he walked into the middle of an argument between Dennis Taylor and a Mr. Miller taking place in the Hendersonville store. Dennis Taylor stabbed George in the stomach and George died 9 days later. At the time of his death he owned 93 acres of land in Worth Township, Mercer County, two horses, two cows and a yoke of oxen. His wife remained in the homestead until her death in 1908 along with their bachelor son S. Albert who died just two months later.
