Bennie Wayne Birk was born June 4, 1941, in Newton, a son of George and Nellie Stanley Birk.
He married Verna Lee Chrispen Jan. 5, 1959, in Clinton. She survives. Also are his father and stepmother, George and Verna Birk; two sons, Steve and Greg Birk; three brothers, Hobert Birk, Pete Birk and Gilbert Birk; four sisters, Eloise Jones, Katie Lee, Patty Salvo and Linda Smith and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother and two brothers.
