IN MEMORIAM

Ernest Gilbert Wimberly, who died August 8, 1943, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry L. Wimberly, was born near Russellville in Franklin County, Alabama, December 16th, 1894.

He joined the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church when quite young and was an active member for many years.

January 22nd, 1920, he was married to Annie Lee Arnold, of near Russellville. They moved to Phil Campbell, Ala., where Mr. Wimberly was a rural letter carrier for five years.

He moved his church membership there and with his wife united with the Methodist church.

On January 1st, 1925, he transferred to Birmingham, Ala., as a clerk in the post office and remained there until death.

He united with the East Lake Methodist Church of Birmingham and was a very active member until his health failed him a few years ago.

He was a veteran of World War I, having spent 18 months in the service of his country; 12 months in the states and 6 months overseas.

As Corporal, Headquarters Co. 335 Field Artillery, 87th Division, and had been a member of General Gorgas Post No. One of the American Legion in Birmingham for many years.

Mr. Wimberly received his education at Mt. Hope and Franklin County High School, Russellville, and Florence State Teachers College.

He was a loyal citizen and a very fine Christian man; was held in highes teem and loved by all who knew him.

WIMBERLY --- Ernest Gilbert Wimberly, 48, died Sunday afternoon at his residence, 2903 Bessemer Road. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Russellville, Ala. Burial at Russellville, Rideout in charge.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Annie Lee Wimberly of Birmingham; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry L. Wimberly; two brothers, Albert H. and Wallace K. Wimberly and two sisters, Mrs. H. L. Burcham and Mrs. Buren Porter, all of Russellville.
