Mary Ann Ida Locke was born in Simcoe Co., Ontario, Canada. She is the daughter of Silas E. and Caroline A. Locke. The Locke family moved to Texas about 1874.

Mary Ann Ida Locke married Otho Alexander McAliley October 28, 1886, in Bryan, Brazos Co., Texas.

They farmed in several counties of Texas, where their eight children were born.

Mary died 11 days after the birth of her twins, Ida and Ira. Otho was left to raise the family.
