Civil War Service - He enlisted Jun 20 1861 at age 20. He mustered as a Sergeant in Co F 7th OVI later in June at Camp Cleveland or Camp Dennison in Ohio. He was appointed 1st Sergeant on Apr 11 1862. He was discharted May 30 1862 on surgeon's certificate of disability.

He enlisted Jul 23 1862 at age 21. He mustered as a 1st Lt in Co I 104th OVI on Aug 30 1862 at Camp Massillon, Ohio. He was promoted to Captain on May 29 1863. On Nov 30 1864 he was wounded & captured. He died later that day while a prisoner.

Per the U.S., Registers of Deaths of Volunteers, 1861-1865 he died Nov 30 1864. Other sources give the place as Franklin, Williamson, Tennessee
