Thurston Phillips, 53, died Friday at the Monterey hospital after an extended illness. He was a retired coal miner and a resident of Monterey.
Funeral services were held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Freewill Baptist Church in Monterey with burial in Welch Memorial Cemetery.
Goff Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Survivors are his widow, Mrs Myrtle Looper Phillips; mother, Mrs Ida Phillips; children Floyd, Gentry, Kenneth, Gary, Mrs Geraldine Buttram, all of Dayton, OH; Larry, US Army, Korea; Donnie and Mrs Judy Phillips, Monterey; 3 sisters, Mrs Florene Martin, Mrs Eddie Bowman, Mrs Ethel Buckner, all of Monterey; and 1 brother, Home Phillips.
