Francis, 82, of Flint passed away Sunday, at McLaren Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services were held Thursday, July 15, 2010 at Hillcrest Mausoleum Chapel, Owosso with Rev. Ray Strawser officiating.

Francis was born the son of the late William Arthur and Ednah Blanche (Ireland) Luft. He was a graduate of Chesaning High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1947 and served as a Weapons Equipment Tech. at the Chanute Air Force Base in Illinois. On February 1, 1949, he was promoted to the enlisted rank of Sergeant.

In civilian life he was a truck driver for many years. After retiring from trucking, he began his own business as an insurance inspector.

His survivors include: two daughters, Kaylene Luft of Lansing and Lori (Mark) Tuttle of Elsie; grandchildren, Jeffrey Luft of Virginia Beach, VA, Kelly Jo Tuttle of Nashville, TN, Sara Jane Tuttle of East Lansing, William Francis Tuttle of Elsie; great grandson, Seth Tarrant of Virginia Beach; sisters, Clara (Francis) Dombroski of Corunna and Wilma Thomas of Owosso.

Francis was preceded in death by his parents; son, Thomas William Luft; brother, Mural Luft; and grand daughter, Jodi Lynn Tuttle.

Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association.
