VERNON RAY VANHOWTEN
Vernon Ray VanHowten, age 69, of Edina, Missouri, passed away Monday morning September 20, 1993 at his residence in Edina, Missouri
The son of William Thomas and Plina Clem Parrish VanHowten, he was born July 1, 1924 in Knox County Missouri. He is survived by one sister Dulcie Davis of Edina, Missouri; one brother William D. VanHowten of Youngstown, Ohio; a niece, Mrs. Carl (Jerry) Gragg of Edina Missouri; a nephew Gary Davis and his wife Vivian of Knox City, Missouri and several great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Noble VanHowten and Melvin L. VanHowten and one sister Chloe Harvey.
Mr. VanHowten was a life-long resident of Knox County and attended school at Knox City, Missouri. He had been employed by several farmers in the Knox City community. Mr. VanHowten served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He has lived in Edina, Missouri since the late 1960's. He was a member of the Knox City American Legion Post #258.
Graveside services were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday morning (September 21, 1993) at the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery northeast of Edina, Missouri with the Rev. David Howald officiating. Military graveside services were conducted by the Knox City American Legion Post #258, Knox City Missouri
