Credella Marie Michaletz, 93 of Aitkin died Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at Aicota Health Care Center in Aitkin. She was born June 11, 1917 in Kanawha, IA. to Martin and Tillie (Swelland) Shaw.
She and her husband Leonard were longtime residents in the Aitkin area but lived in the Minneapolis area for many years where they were married December 21, 1935 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Robbinsdale. Credella was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved her family and made all of them so comfortable no matter how many were at their table. She loved the Lord and prayed always that all of her family would be joining her and Leonard at their dining room table at their mansion in the sky. She loved gardens and had more than one of them. Everything from rhubarb and currents to potatoes and squash. She just loved to can and freeze all of her precious goodies so she could share them. She also loved to bake and of course had to have dessert with every evening meal.
She and Leonard along with their children had a dairy and hog farm in the area which is now called New Hope. The children will verify that is where the huge gardens were. Credella did a lot of volunteering in her lifetime. She loved to teach Sunday school, volunteer for the Billy Graham Assoc. in Minneapolis, at nursing homes, and even for the League of Women Voters. Her favorite role in life was that of a grandmother.
Every summer the grandkids would take their turns at spending time at Nord Lake. Their grandpa and grandma would spoil them rotten and then send them home to their mom and dads. Real memories were made at Nord Lake. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. Everybody knew her by her beautiful smile and grand laugh. God bless you mom, and save a place for us at your table.
Credella is survived by 2 sons and daughters-in-law: Curtis (Carol) Michaletz of Clear Lake Lyle (Dianne) Michaletz of Mantorville and Summerfield, FL. One daughter and son-in-law: Kathy (John) Hanson of Merrifield and Lady Lake, FL. 1 brother Clifford Shaw of Milaca Nine grandchildren: Cindi, Grant, Julie, Shele, Jodi, Stephen, Janelle, Derek, and Carla 22 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild
