William's obituary says they moved to Oregon in 1879. The family moved to Jackson County where William's brother John lived as well. At the time of the 1880 census the couple lived in Manzanita, Jackson, Oregon. William is listed as a farmer; Mary as keeping house.

William and Mary next show up in the 1900 Federal census living in Nehalem City, Tillamook, Oregon where William worked as a day laborer. Children Docia, William and Harriet were no longer living as Mary's record states she had 8 children, 5 still living.
