An Estimable Lady Dead.
Mrs. L. M. Pattillo, the aged mother of Messrs. R. M. and G. A. Pattillo, died at the home of the former in this city, on Tuesday night of last week, 2nd inst. She was seventy-nine years of age, had been in rather feeble health for a number of years, but the crisis came at the end of a very short severe spell.
She has been for sixty years a dutiful member of the Methodist church, and was known as a kind hearted good lady and her life examples will be a priceless heritage to those she leaves behind to mourn her loss.
She lived for a number of years at Marietta before coming to Cartersville as her permanent home. Her remains were interred at Oak Hill cemetery. (Note in 2006 from Mary Jane Hobbs Pattillo, Lemira's great granddaughter-in-law. Lemira's son, Henry A. Pattillo, although not listed in Lemira's obit, was still living at the time of her death and is believed to have probably been living in Greeneville, Greene Co., Georgia.)
Although her parentage is not proven, I believe she may be a daughter of Richard and Elizabeth Puckett who came to Jackson Co., Georgia by 1809 and Gwinett Co., Georgia by 1811.
James Pattillo (1807 - 1861)*
Henry Augustus Pattillo (1839 - 1921)*
Charles S. Pattillo (1840 - 1863)*
Robert Morland Pattillo (1844 - 1923)*
George Alexander Pattillo (1846 - 1919)*
William Pattillo (1848 - 1849)*
Note: In some Pattillo Family Trees and Books her last name is shown as Reid or Reed. Robert M. Pattillo's, her son's, death certificate lists her maiden name as Puckett. I believe that her name has been mixed up with her husband's gg mother FrancesReid.
