Brenda Kaye Young Cowher, 54, of Raleigh, N.C., died Friday, July 23, 2010, at her home. She was the daughter of the late Claude and Irene Young, of Bunn, N.C. Kaye is survived by her husband of 27 years, Bill Cowher; three daughters, Meagan Lyn, Lauren Marie and Lindsay Morgan; three sisters, Faye Young Miller and husband, Matt, of Ithaca, N.Y., Cathy Young Whealton and husband, J.D., of New Bern, N.C., and Margie Young Martin and husband, Wayne, of Bunn, N.C. Kaye was a devoted mother to her three wonderful daughters. She and Bill were married April 9, 1983, in Ransdell Chapel Church, Bunn, N.C., where a Celebration of Her Life was conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, July 26, 2010, by Dr. Jerry Sosebee. She was a graduate of North Carolina State University where she played basketball under Coach Kay Yow and went on professionally to play for both the New York Stars and New Jersey Gems. Cremation Society of the Carolinas is assisting the family. Memorial donations may be made in her memory to The Family Resources of PA, Stevenson Building, 141 S. Highland Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15206.
