Tempie Reeves Cox, 93, a lifelong resident of New Mexico, passed away November 30, 2008, in Alamogordo. Mrs. Cox was born July 9, 1915 at the Reeves Ranch in Elk, New Mexico, to William Austin and Eula Magdalena (Woodson) Reeves.

She married Lincoln Cox on May 22, 1932 at the family home. They lived on the Cox Ranch in Mayhill until 1996 when they moved to Alamogordo.

Mrs. Cox was active in the United Methodist Church in Hope, New Mexico; served as a part of the Peticoat Government in Hope; was a member and past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star; a member of the Women's Society of Christian Service; Who's Who in New Mexico in 1962; Make It Yourself With Wool in Otero County; member of both the Mayhill and Otero County Extension Clubs; Farm Bureau; showed items at the Otero County Fair; member of the Yucca County and Otero County Cowbells; and supported many school activities with her children. Mrs. Cox was currently attending the New Heart Cowboy Church in La Luz.

Survivors include her son Dub Cox and his wife Jenny of Mayhill; three daughters, Eula Marie Harrison of Las Cruces, Ruthann Carner and her husband Ed of Tularosa, and Shirley White and her husband Phil of Kerrville, Texas; 16 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; 14 great great grandchildren; four sisters, Elva Hogsett, Eva Hendricks, Madie Teal, and Thelma Harwell and her husband Ernest, all of Roswell; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Cox was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lincoln, in 2005; four sisters, Ottie McGuire, Letetia Beavers, Beth Ledlow and Truth Yearwood; two brothers, Lonnie Reeves and Loren Reeves; a daughter-in-law Betty Cox; and a great granddaughter Leah Walker.

Funeral services were conducted Thursday, December 4, at 10:00 a.m. in the Hamilton-O'Dell Chapel with Clarence "Yunk" Griffin and Charles R. Walker officiating. Interment followed in the Piñon Cemetery. Pallbearers were Mrs. Cox's grandsons and grandsons-in-law, Jake Carner, Jody Cox, Gary Cox, Johnee Carr, James White, Jess White, Bobby Knox, Jeff Knox, Michael Lattauzio, Sam Snow, Pete Turnbull, J.R. Nunn, Daniel Brunson, and special friends, Dr. Brent Aday, Yvonne Oliver and Dan Lowry. Honorary pallbearers will be Mrs. Cox's granddaughters, granddaughters-in-law, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren
