While those who did not know her well found Lydia to be somewhat reserved until they got to know her, she was an authentic and devoted friend. While growing up, some of her best friends were Delia Montijo, Margarita Lopez, Cecilia Rodriguez and Raquel Rodriguez. Later in life, she became friends with Delia Montijo.
The desire for romance was always present in Lydia's life. Lydia cared passionately for Miguel. Her deep loyalty and a strong commitment to her vows brought a sense of completeness to their marriage. They were married at City Hall in Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico.
Lydia was a gentle person who held deep feelings for her children. She enjoyed having fun with her kids. She was blessed with two sons, Benjamin and Esteban. They were also blessed with 11 grandchildren, Anthony, Brenda, Bianca, Benjamin, Brandy, Alyssa, Brina, Beau, Kyle, Kyiersten and Katie.
Blessed with a strong sense of integrity, Lydia was as loyal and committed in her work as she was in the rest of her life. Lydia was a lover of animals and cherished her pets. One of Lydia's favorites was Tinkerbell and Bambi, a Chihuahua. They were best friends for Bambi, 3 years and Tinkerbell, 3 years.
Lydia passed away on May 18, 2008 at Kaiser Permanente Hospital, California. She fought many illnesses: diabetes and kidney failure.
She is survived by her husband Miguel, her children Benjamin and Esteban, her grandchildren, her sister Ana Maria and her brother Carlos. Lydia was laid to rest in Green acres Memorial Park, Bloomington.
