Lydia M. Aceves was known as many things to many people. She was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew her best, Lydia will be remembered as an outstanding individual.

Her parents were Anita and Carlos Meza. Lydia was born and raised in Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico.

Lydia was raised with three siblings. She had one older sister Martha, one younger sister Ana Maria, and one younger brother Carlos. Lydia was constantly involved in activities with her brothers and sisters. Lydia and her siblings had the typical rivalries while growing up, but they cared deeply for one another.

As a young girl, Lydia lived a childhood filled with fantasy. She was generally in pursuit of her own identity, but she was also adaptable to almost any situation she faced. In her spare time she had a few hobbies she enjoyed such as bike riding, sewing and embroidery. However, to Lydia, the most fun to be had was simply playing, and spending time with her many friends.

High school was a time for Lydia to seek out knowledge. She enjoyed learning and had a natural interest in gathering information. Lydia had a flair for the poetic and was very expressive and articulate, especially when it came to her writing. Lydia took her education seriously. She enjoyed some courses more than others, having favorite classes and teachers.

While those who did not know her well found Lydia to be somewhat reserved until they got to know her, she was an authentic and devoted friend. While growing up, some of her best friends were Delia Montijo, Margarita Lopez, Cecilia Rodriguez and Raquel Rodriguez. Later in life, she became friends with Delia Montijo.

The desire for romance was always present in Lydia's life. Lydia cared passionately for Miguel. Her deep loyalty and a strong commitment to her vows brought a sense of completeness to their marriage. They were married at City Hall in Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico.

Lydia was a gentle person who held deep feelings for her children. She enjoyed having fun with her kids. She was blessed with two sons, Benjamin and Esteban. They were also blessed with 11 grandchildren, Anthony, Brenda, Bianca, Benjamin, Brandy, Alyssa, Brina, Beau, Kyle, Kyiersten and Katie.

Blessed with a strong sense of integrity, Lydia was as loyal and committed in her work as she was in the rest of her life. Lydia worked well with fellow employees and showed great cooperation in reaching common goals. Lydia always seemed to be able to get the job done. She was most comfortable working on the projects and jobs that she strongly supported. Her primary occupation was as a caretaker. She was employed for a period of time by the state of California. Lydia always tried to be a team player, doing what was necessary in order to get the job done.

Lydia enjoyed her leisure time by taking part in various hobbies. Her favorite pursuits were embroidery and sewing. Lydia was content to enjoy her hobbies alone but she was also willing to share her interests with others.

Lydia was an eternal idealist, and her deep concern for others made her a valuable asset to the many clubs and organizations to which she belonged. Because she truly wanted to make a difference, Lydia was actively involved in these kinds of groups throughout her life. Lydia was passionate in her beliefs and being a very skilled communicator, she could really come alive when involved in a project. Throughout her later years, Lydia was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Lydia took all of her personal and moral obligations seriously. Lydia was a strong defender of her faith. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. During that time, she was involved in youth ministry.

Lydia was a lover of animals and cherished her pets. One of Lydia's favorites was Tinkerbell and Bambi, a Chihuahua. They were best friends for Bambi, 3 years and Tinkerbell, 3 years.

Lydia passed away on May 18, 2008 at Kaiser Permanente Hospital, California. She fought many illnesses: diabetes and kidney failure.

She is survived by her husband Miguel, her children Benjamin and Esteban, her grandchildren, her sister Ana Maria and her brother Carlos. Lydia was laid to rest in Green acres Memorial Park, Bloomington.

Simply stated, Lydia was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by her family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Lydia leaves behind her a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life she touched will always remember Lydia M. Aceves.
