George L. Bard, Sr. was born on June 5, 1920 to Edward and Lillian Bard in Dallas, Texas. He passed away on November 25, 2009 at his home in Mesquite. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mary Bard; sister, Octa Mae "Tiny" Cannaday; sons, Ronald Lee Bard and Jerry David Bard; and by his granddaughter, Jana McKinney. Mr. Bard is survived his sons Leon Bard, Edward Bard and his wife Diana, and Robert Bard; daughters, Pamela Mauthe and her husband Tom, and Karey Bard; by fifteen grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and two nieces. Mr. Bard proudly served in the United States Army Air Corp during World War II. He was a life long member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States Post 8242. He also enjoyed horse racing and rodeos. Viewing begins on Friday November 27th at Laurel Oaks Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Saturday November 28th at 2:00 p.m. at the Laurel Oaks Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Darlene Taff officiating. Burial will follow at Laurel Oaks Memorial Park.
