Levi Bainbridge a Virginian, married Eliza Jane Bowman, also a Virginian. He was a miner, teamster, landowner and stock-raiser who crossed the plains to California, coming to Marysville in 1849, from Van Buren County, Iowa, of English descent. His family members having settled in Virginia before the War of the Revolution. Returning East, he crossed again about 1856; and then, in 1859, the family, including father and mother and eight children, crossed the plains to California with an ox-team, and in the fall of that year located on Honcut Creek, thirty miles northeast of Marysville. In 1860 Levi Bainbridge preempted 160 acres, the patent to the land being signed by President U. S. Grant.
Levi & Eliza Bainbridge had twelve children, three of whom were born in California. Of the twelve children born to them, eight reached adulthood: William Edgar, a miner; Worth Edward, a resident of Bangor, Cal.; Oliver George, a rancher on the home place; Mrs. Cassandra Ruff, the wife of Kasper Ruff; Levi, a rancher on the home place; Cynthia, the wife of Albert Hougland, of Chico; Breckenridge; and Albert Pike. The children who died young were: Sarah, Richard, Marvin, and Cinda Jane."
Levi Bainbridge was a Democrat. He served as judge of the justice court of New York Township, Yuba County, for over twenty years. In the early sixties he engaged in freighting from Sacramento and Marysville to Nevada City. In 1879 he replaced J.H. Hanson as Clerk of the Hansonville School District Board of Trustees. He passed away at the family home in Hansonville on December 1, 1895, aged eighty-six years*. Eliza Bainbridge survived until November, 1906, passing away at the age of eighty-five*.

It's highly likely Levi is also buried in this cemetery. Except for Cinda J & Marvin who share a stone, and Wourth & his wife Mary who also share a stone, there are no other Bainbridge stones in the cemetery.
*Another records says Levi passed away Dec 1, 1895 at his home in Hansonville, Yuba County, California at the age of 84 years 10 months 12 days. Hansonville later became known as Rackerby.
*The California death index says she died Novemeber 8, 1906 and was 83 at the time of her death.
