CREVE COEUR, IL -- Aaron C. Akins, 76, of 1003 W. Main, Watertown, Wis., formerly of Creve Coeur, died at 6:25 a.m. Friday, June 20, 1997, at Beverly Terrace Nursing Home in Watertown.
Born Aug. 13, 1920, in Hominy, Okla., to Jesse L. and Alma Rose Milliken Akins, he married Maxine M. Cripe on June 10, 1939, in Missouri. She died March 3, 1996, in Peoria. One grandson also preceded him in death.
Surviving are two sons, Richard E. of Watertown and Donald C. of Huntsville, Ala.; and seven grandchildren.
A World War II Navy Seabee veteran, he was a member of Creve Coeur American Legion Post 1234. He was a machinist at Caterpillar Inc. in Building KK for 37 years, retiring in 1977. He was a member of Averyville Baptist Church in Spring Bay.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria. The Rev. Richard E. Akins will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fondulac Cemetery, East Peoria.
Memorials may be made to his church.
