Funeral services for Carl Wilhelm Josephsen, 85, were held at 10:30 this morning at the Long funeral home, with Rev. Daniel Koening of the Immanuel Lutheran Church at Adair officiating. Burial was in the Exira Cemetery. Mr. Josephsen, a retired Anita farmer, died Friday night at the Cass county memorial hospital. The son of Baltzer and Kristine Jepesen Josephsen, he was born in Denmark on January 12, 1889, and came to the United States at the age of 17. He moved to the Anita-Exira area in the early 1930's and retired from farming in the early 50's moving to Anita at that time.
He was married to Martha Petersen May 14, 1915 and she died in 1961. Surviving are two sons, Richard Josephsen of Adair and Robert Josephsen of Exira; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was the last of his family and was preceded in death by his wife, parents, two grandchildren in infancy, two sisters and two brothers. ľAtlantic News Telegraph, November 11, 1974
Funeral services were held Monday morning Nov. 11 at 10:30 a.m. at The Long Funeral Home for Carl Josephsen, 85. Pastor Daniel Koenig of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Adair officiated. Mrs. Gene Hackwell accompanied Sidney Larsen as he sang "What A Friend We Have In Jesus" and "Going Home." Casket bearers were Jim Nelson. Bill Nelson. Melvin Hackwell, Aldie Josephsen, Richard Josephsen and Robert Josephsen. Interment was in the Exira Cemetery. Mr. Josephsen, son of Baltire and Christine Josephsen was born Jan. 12. 1889 in Denmark, and passed away Friday, Nov. 8, at Cass County Memorial Hospital, where he was taken Oct. 31. He came to the United States at the age of 17 and worked in several areas before coming to the Anita-Exira vicinity in 1930. He was married to Martha Petersen May 14, 1915 and she passed away in 1961. After retiring from the farm the Josephsens moved to Anita in the eurly 1950's and resided at 912 West Main. He is survived by two sons, Richard of Adair and Robert of Exira; six grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
