Virginia Marie Woolson Morgan, 95, of Chattanooga, TN passed away Tuesday, July 20, 2010.

The daughter of the late Pearl and Guy Woolson, Virginia was born (1914) in Colorado Springs, CO, moving to Chattanooga, TN where she became a lifelong resident. She graduated from Chattanooga Central High School in 1931 and was an employee of American Lava during World War II while her husband, John Junior Morgan, served in the U. S. Army. After World War II, Virginia and John settled in the Stuart Heights community where they served as charter members of St. Luke United Methodist Church. Virginia was an active member and former officer of the Stuart Heights Garden Club. Her husband served as a founding member of the Stuart Heights Club in the building of the current pool and tennis court. Virginia discovered her love of painting when she turned 70 years old. She became a prolific artist selling and displaying her artwork in various venues around the Chattanooga area and was an active member of the Association of Visual Artists (AVA).

Preceded in death by her husband of 45 year, John Junior Morgan, Virginia is survived by son, John Thomas Morgan, Smyrna, GA; son, Keith (Beth) Morgan, Chattanooga, TN; grandson, Andrew Morgan; stepgrandchildren, Christin (Dion) Arnold, Joey Maynor, Kayla Maynor; one great-grandchild, Colston Arnold, all of Chattanooga, TN.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at St. Luke United Methodist Church with The Rev. Dr. Cynthia Thompson officiating.

Burial will be in Chattanooga Memorial Park.

Visitation is 4-8 pm today at Lane Funeral Home, 601 Ashland Terrace.
