John "Mack" Danner is the son of Frederick Danner and Susannah Hatley. He is a brother to Elizabeth, Mary J, Sarah K, Anderson Allen, Nancy Ellen, Frederick Francis, Susan M and Rebecca C.

Mack married Martha J "Patty" Love and they are the parents of Thomas Wesley, William G, Lloyd McNeal, George B and H H Danner.

He was a farmer and business man in Watauga county before his admission to the asylum.
