Luther M. Ashford, 70, 1523 Mulberry St., died Thursday evening at his home after a long illness. He was born Feb. 12, 1910, in Bourbon County, the son of John V. and Mary A. Cole Ashford. He married Mildred E. White, May 19, 1931 at Nevada, Mo. He was a retired Frisco Railroad employee. He was a sports enthusiast and as a young man he spent several years in boxing. Mr. Ashford was noted for his quality gardening.
Survivors include his wife of the home; one daughter: Mrs. Fred (Ellen) Geneva, 706 S. Margrave St.; one brother: George W. Ashford, 310 Arthur St.; one sister: Mrs. T. S. (Ruth) Keck, Pasadena, Texas; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be 3 p.m. Monday at Cheney's Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Cornelius Mears and the Rev. Joe White officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
