Ethel I. Jacques, youngest child of Thomas V. and Lavina Clopton Jacques, was born on a ranch northeast of Springview, Nebraska, September 6, 1895, and died at the Brown County Hospital, April 1, 1984.

She received her elementary education in a country school and in Springview, where she also attended high school. She taught school in the Mills, Nebraska area and spent her entire life in Keya Paha County before moving to Ainsworth in 1971.

She was married to Frank M. Carr, November 9, 1911, at Ainsworth, Nebraska, and to them four children were born. They observed their 70th wedding anniversary in 1981.

Although physical activities were limited in later years, she maintained a keen sense of awareness and interest in life. Throughout her life, she was devoted to home and family.

She was preceded in death by her husband in August 1982, nine brothers, two sisters and a grandson.

She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. John (Bonnie) Bellin, O’Neill, Nebraska; Mrs. W.K. (Edryce Rynearson and Mrs. Chester (Getha) Nelson, both of Ainsworth, Nebraska; one son, Jack, Springview; nine grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
