Alfred Fredrick Clay, age 89 of De Soto, Kansas died Sunday July 18, 2010 at the Hillside Village of De Soto at De Soto, Kansas. He was born on December 25, 1920 in Bonner Springs, Kansas the son of Lorenzo and Elsie Johnson Clay. He was a Veteran serving his country with the United States Army during WWII. He married Dorothy Makemson on July 10, 1946 at Fort Scott, Kansas; she preceded him in death on February 10, 1995. He worked as a laborer doing construction. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, 9 brothers and sisters, and a daughter in-law Betty Clay. Survivors include five sons; Wayne, Duane, and Alfred Clay all of De Soto, Kansas, Fred Clay of Bucyrus, Kansas, and Dennis Clay of Topeka, Kansas, six grandchildren, and several great grandchildren.
Services will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday July 21, 2010 at the Coffel-Schneider Funeral Home Mound City, Kansas. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday July 20, 2010 at the Coffel –Schneider Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Pleasanton, Cemetery Pleasanton, Kansas. The family suggests contributions to the Hillside Village of De Soto.
