Sportscaster. Born in Toronto Ontario, for fifty-six years he was the "Voice of Hockey" for play-by-play on Canada's CFCA radio. On February 16, 1923, he made his first hockey broadcast and coined the phrase "He shoots, he scores!" which became his signature trade mark. For his devoted service, he was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1965, was made an Officer of the Order of Canada in 1972 and the Foster Hewitt Memorial Award from the Hockey Hall of Fame is named after him. His son Foster William Alfred Hewitt was also a Canadian radio and television sportscaster.
