Daniel was the son of Jacob and Jane Monster Kamp.
He was married to Mary Van Gorp in 1881. To them were born seven children. They moved to Nebraska in a covered wagon in 1884, living in the Pella community north of Adams. Mary passed away Sept. 9, 1909.
On March 20, 1918, he was married to Kate Schakel. She passed away in 1941.
