Mary, the daughter of Charles and Hannah Evelina (Fitch) Kingsbury married Arthur Leander Pomeroy in 1872 at the Kingsbury Hill Church near Starlight, Wayne Co., PA. The area known as "Kingsbury Hill", was named after Charles' grandfather, Charles Kingsbury, who was the first settler to the area, but drowned in the Delaware River while moving the family to his newly purchased land in Buckingham County overlooking Starlight Lake. The history of Wayne County credits Charles' son Elias Kingsbury as the namesake of Kingsbury Hill, most likely because Elias was the oldest son of the family when the family settled there and he had taken over as "man of the house".

Mary and her family traveled the country performing music and her husband Arthur preached in churches and tents. Their children sang as a group while their parents played instruments. The family was known as the "Pomeroy Family Musical and Literary Entertainers" (see poster in photo section). Arthur would preach a sermon after the entertainment.

Arthur and Mary had five children:

1) Minnie Marie Pomeroy (1874-1943) m. Clinton Douglas Morris
2) Bertrand Laverne Pomeroy (1877-1958) m. Pearl L. Smith
3) Cora M. Pomeroy (1879-1950) m. Hugo H. Frie
4) Cecil Almaron Pomeroy (1882-?) m. Olive Mae Mallery
5) Viviane Aubrey Pomeroy (1886-1963) m. Marguerite Henrietta "Etta" Wilson
