Nickolas was called "Danger" because it was said he had an irascible temper.
"Danger" came to Perry County in 1790's, probably at the same time as his brother John. He came through Pound Gap, from around Holston where he had been living for some time and settled on the North Fork of the Kentucky River, near what is now Combs, KY. He was one of the largest land owners in Perry Co. at that time. He received his first land grant in 1810 when this was Clay County and he had other grants on Ball Creek, Lotts Creek, Combs Mill, and Trace Creek.
He remained a Tory and tradition says that because of this he became unpopular with other Combs. "Danger" Nick died in Perry County near 1859. He is buried in the Old Combs Cemetery on Meadow Branch Near Combs Bends.

I believe that he signed allegiance to these United States towards the end of the war.
