Music was a very important part of his life, and he was known for the special tone he produced on his trumpet. Vrby was a founding partner of the Solid 8 Orchestra, and served as the lead trumpet player from 1956 to 1970. He is also a proud past member of Clarkson Polka Band, Catholic Workman, Clarkson Commercial Club, City Council Member, and he was a 25 years veteran of the Clarkson Volunteer Fire Department.
