Josephine Easter "Josie" Hamby was a daughter of William Hamby and his wife Cynthia Crawford of Limestone County, Alabama. She married Jesse Denson Beauchamp (13 Feb. 1815-26 Feb. 1889) on 28 March 1875 in Limestone Co., Alabama. She was his second wife. He was a Confederate Veteran, having served in Co. K, 54th Tennessee Regiment, Confederate States Army.

They lived in Alabama for a while, then moved to Tennessee. Jesse died in Giles Co., Tennessee, and Josie moved to Paris, Texas in 1892 (per her application for pension as a Confederate widow.)

Josie and Jesse had five children: Mattie Lou Beauchamp (25 Feb. 1876-7 May 1962, m. Samuel Baugh), John Denson Beauchamp (28 Nov. 1878-?, m. Gladys Cave), Thomas Lamar "Tom" Beauchamp, Sr. (24 Aug. 1882-26 April 1964, m. Augusta Walker), Maxey Gregg Beauchamp (30 Sept. 1885-9 Jan. 1968) and Fauna May Beauchamp (28 Feb. 1888-13 Aug. 1974, m. George R. Rankin).
