Born Sept. 10, 1921, in Vandalia to Charles E. and Viola Mae Kelly Cripe, she married Aaron C. Akins on June 10, 1939, in St. Louis. He survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Donald C. of Huntsville, Ala., and the Rev. Richard E. of Watertown, Wis.; two brothers, Floyd C. Cripe of Washington and Robert L. Cripe of Vandalia; and seven grandchildren.
She was a waitress and later was manager at the Team Room at the YWCA in Peoria for 30 years, retiring in 1979. She was a member of Averyville Baptist Church in East Peoria and American Legion Post 1234 Auxiliary.
