Frank Beran for forty-seven years a resident of this community passed away at his home two miles east of Muscoda on Wednesday, December 21, 1938, at 2:30 p.m. He was in his 77th year.
Mr. Beran, the youngest son of John Beran and Catherine Duba, was born February 28, 1861, in Zachotin, Bohemia. He was united in marriage to Josephine Vitiska on November 24, 1889, and five sons and a daughter were born to this union.
He immigrated to this country in 1891 and for thirty-eight years has lived on the farm where his death occurred.
In his younger days Mr. Beran served as a member of the cavalry in Austria. He became a citizen of this country in 1915 and has been known as one of the industrious and thrifty farmers of this locality. He was a devout christian and a loyal member of the Cobb Presbyterian church.
Surviving are his wife, a daughter, Mary of Madison, five sons, Van of Des Moines, Iowa, Frank of Garden City, Iowa, Joe of Clements, Minn., Milo of Cincinnati, Ohio, John of Springfield, Ill., and eight grandchildren
