He first married Sarah Oliver of Petersburg, Georgia. They were married Dec 25,1806. Sarah and their two daughters died died within days of each other. In 1814 Daniel Bird married Lucinda Brooks. Together they had five children: Louie, Caroline, Mary, Cornelia and Thomas Lucinda died 1826 in Edgefield, South Carolina. Less than a year later, Daniel married Lucinda's 34 year old sister, Behethland Brooks Simkins, widow of Jesse Simkins. They moved to Florida and settled in Monticello, Jefferson County. It was while in Florida during the Indian Wars that Daniel found his daughter Louisa attacked at home, killing her two children.
