Mr. Marvin H. Divine, 80, of North Greenville St., died Sunday. Sept. 16, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center on Leestown Road in Lexington. Born March 17, 1910, he was a son of the late Sam P. and Ida Harris Divine. He served in the U.S. Army in the European African Middle Eastern Theater during World War II and was a prisoner of War. He received the purple heart. He was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans, a member of the Bataan Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Douglas Laws Post #52, American Legion. He was a member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife Susie Kurtz Divine. Survivors include one sister, Mrs. Florence Watts of Harrodsburg and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were Wednesday, Sept. 19, at 2:30 p.m. at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Robert DeFoor officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery with military rites. Pallbearers were: Eddy Cartwright, Donald Divine, Stephen Divine. Ernie Divine.
