Private Joseph Thompson
Served with Co. A 1st Nevada Vol. Cav. from his Enlistment in June of 1863 until His Death on March 18th 1865 of Typhoid Fever, He was Buried in the Fort Cemetery and there he lay Forgotten until Feb. 1885 when all 44 Buried there were reintured and Moved to The Grand Army of The Republic Gen. Custer Post No.5 Section of the Lone Mountain Cemetery in Carson City Nevada.
Now Because the Original Wooden markers were used as Fire wood by some of the Local Cattle Ranchers from 1870-85 the Graves were unmarked when they were moved so not know who was who the Men were given a New Stone Marker that Reads "US Soldier"
