She was born on August 10, 1917 in Ft. Wayne, Allen County, Indiana to parents Harvey Raypole and Laura Emma Brown. In 1920, Virginia and her family resided in the 17th ward of Ft. Wayne, Indiana. She moved with her parents and older sister, Violet S., to Toledo, Lucas County, Ohio when she was 10 years old. In 1930, the family resided at 1727 Sylvania Ave., Toledo, Ohio. During her teenage years, she was known to do crazy things while growing up, like smearing Linnberger cheese all over the neighbors boyfriend's car seats.

She graduated from Scott (more likely) or Libbey High School.

She married John George Osko when she was 19 years old. They married twice, the first time they eloped and the second time in a Catholic Church, September 5, 1936 and November 2, 1936, respectively. She gave birth to a total of 7 children, four girls and three boys. All her children's names begin with the letter "J".

After the house fire, my grandmother raised her family at 407 Idaho Avenue, Lorain, Ohio. This particular house was next to a fire station.

Virginia had to play doctor at least two times when her children were little. The Lorain Journal documented that in 1947, Virginia had to care for five of her children that had to quarantined due to Chicken Pox.

She enjoyed reading, knitting, and traveling to Florida for Winter. She especially loved her dachshunds (I know of at least two that she had) and collected figurines of them as well.

She died of respiratory failure secondary to lung cancer on April 2, 1982 at St. Joseph Hospital in Lorain, Lorain County, Ohio. Services were held at Reidy-Scanlan Funeral Home in Lorain, Ohio.
