Mrs. Theo. Arens died at her home west of town Monday afternoon at about 3 o'clock at the age of 76 years. Deceased suffered from a paralytic stroke a few days before ago and for several years had been confined to her home.

She was born in Luxemberg Germany and came to this country when 10 years of age [1851] and was married to Ernest Goebel when she was but 17 years of age [1858], who died about 10 years later [1868], leaving his wife, three sons and one daughter. Two years afterward [April 16, 1871] she married Theodore Arens, the husband who survives her and two sons were born to them, both of whom survive.

Funeral services were held from St. Mary's [Alton] church Wednesday morning at 9 o'clock and interment was made in St. Mary's [Alton] cemetery.
