Edith Eldora Bell was born Nov. 5, 1899, near Colorado Springs, Colorado, to Thomas and Amanda (Black) Maddox. She died Feb, 20, 2000 at West Vue Nursing Home in West Plains. She is survived by her daughters, Breta Opstad, of Lakeside, Calif.; and Pat and Frank Meador, of Ava; her grandchildren, Ronnie and Jackie Dial, of Pembroke, Mass., Jimmy Wallace, San Diego, Calif., Trish Beaudoin, Lakeside, Calif., Susie and Mitch Hutt, San Diego, Calif., Tommy Dodd, Las Vegas, Nev., Kristin Molina, Lakeside, Calif., Patric Meador, Moab, Utah, Laurie Meador, West Plains, Charley and Beverly Meador, Mansfield, and LeeAnn and Chris Norman, West Plains; great grandchildren, Mark and Josie Emery, Dogpatch, Ark., Kim Glover, Kevin Dodd, Kacey Ziemann, Mandy Konklin, Paul Molina, Lori Molina, Matt Dziewierz, Rick Gilbert, Shannon Gilbert, Kaitlin Laitner, all of Calif., Brian Hill, Nicole Odom, Brett Ozment, and Klay Norman, of Missouri; great great grandchildren, Kristin Emery, Ashley and MIchael Glover, Chelsea Dodd, Lexie Sharp, Kristopher Ziemann, Mariah Diaz; and two step grandchildren; 13 step great grandchildren; 6 step great great grandchildren; 1 step great great great grandson; her sister in law Beulah Thurston, of Aztec, NM; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Bell celebrated her 100th birthday on Nov 5th with most of her family in attendance. She lived in three centuries, traveled by covered wagon and jet plane. She worked as a beautician in New Mexico and Colorado prior to World War II, moving to Burbank, Calif. in 1943 where she worked at Lockheed Aircraft Plant. She was also an accomplished seamstress. She was preceded in death by her son, Thomas J. Dial, her granddaughter, Elaine Brinegan, and great grandson Ronald Dial, her mother and father and eight brothers and sister. At her request, cremation has taken place and her ashes will be placed with her mother and father at Aztec, NM, at a later date. A family gathering will be held Sunday afternoon, Feb. 27, at the Ava home of her daughter and son in law, Frank and Pat Meador, to celebrate her life. Memorial contributions to he Aztec Museum Association or to the library of donor's choice are requested by the family.
