Jacob arrived at Castle Garden, New York on January 22, 1883. He listed his occupation only as a laborer. He listed his final destination as Berea, Ohio.
He married Johanna Sztupay on July 14, 1884 in Cuyahoga County, Ohio.
On December 23rd, 1885, Jacob filed for citizenship in the Probat Court of Cuyahoga County, Ohio. He signed his petition "Jacob Stanislawski", eventhough the clerk and index have it down as Stanislowski. He listed his country of origin as Germany,
