George Carter, Former Resident, Dies In Ft. Worth
George Malone Carter, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. J.E. Carter of Memphis, died in a Fort Worth Hospital at 7 p.m. on Dec. 28. Born Dec. 12, 1923, at Sherman, he was 38 years of age.
After the death of his father in 1929, the family made their home in Memphis for a number of years. George completed his high school education here, after which he served two years with the Marines in the South Pacific during World War II. For the past 15 years he had made his home in Fort Worth.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, Dec. 30, in Fort Worth followed by graveside rites in Whitewright.
He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Ann Carter Owen of Fort Worth.
Relatives attending the funeral were Mrs. Byron Baldwin and Billy Thompson of Memphis, Geo. M. Thompson of Clarendon, Mrs. J.G. Brown of Tyler and Mr. and Mrs. Herschel Montgomery of Dallas.
