LAVACA — Johnnie E. Hays, 72, of Lavaca died Tuesday, July 31, 2001, in his home. He served in the Army and was a veteran of the Korean War, and was retired from Judge Parker's Historic Site. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Lewis Funeral Chapel in Lavaca with burial at Oak Valley Cemetery south of Lavaca. He is survived by his wife, Irene; three daughters, Margaret Sanders of Cashmere, Wash., Darlene Torkelson of Charleston, and Evelyn Geheb of Lavaca; five sons, Jerry, Johnny and Joe, all of Lavaca, David of Galena, Mo., and Rick of Hot Springs; a sister, Ann Richards of Sarcoxie, Mo.; three brothers, Frank Hays of Colorado Springs, Colo., Richard and Tommy Hays, both of Ardmore, Okla.; 16 grandchildren, five stepgrandchildren; one great-grandchild and one stepgreat-grandchild.
