Wavie of Christian Nursing Home, Lincoln, and formerly of Atlanta, died at 3:57 p.m. Thursday at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.
Her funeral was at Atlanta Christian Church, with John Cox officiating.
She was the daughter of Joseph and Hattie Crutchley Rench. She married Jesse E. Botkin June 8, 1926, in Eureka. He died March 24, 1968.
Surviving are a son, Dick, Chicago; a brother, Arthur Rench, Belmont, Calif.; three sisters, Ferne Jackson, Sun City, Calif.; and Alvera Chrisman and Alma Pearson, both of Lincoln; and three grandchildren.
Two sisters and a brother preceded her in death.
She was a sales clerk at Penney and Laudauer department stores, Lincoln, for several years.
She was a member of the Atlanta chapter of Royal Neighbors of America and the Atlanta Christian Church.
Wavie was Atlanta's first full time schoolteacher.
Married in a double ceremony with Wavie's cousin Nellie Crutchley and Robert Harkreader on 08 Jun 1926 in Eureka,IL.
She loved the color lavender, light purple. She was always impeccably dressed, in slack suits, matching earrings, necklace even if it was to go get the mail. She never learned how to drive. She slept in satin pajamas. She had her hair done once a week. I remember her telephone service was on a partyline. She grew strawberries in the backyard. She lived next door to the funeral home. She loved Lawrence Welk. She never went out without a hankie.
